Transforming My Workshop: A Journey from Factory to Studio

This year has been all about change for me. In a world where everything seems to be moving faster than ever, I decided to take a step back and focus on what truly matters. It’s been quite a journey transforming my workshop space from a bustling factory into a serene and inspiring studio. And I’m so excited to share this journey with you!

From Factory to Studio

The first few months of the year were a whirlwind of activity. I rolled up my sleeves, grabbed some paintbrushes, and got to work on transforming my space. I knew I wanted to create a workshop that not only felt welcoming but also fostered creativity and inspiration.

Out with the Old: I started by clearing out the clutter. Over time, my workspace had become more like a factory, filled with equipment and supplies for products that were no longer resonating with me. Letting go of these things felt like shedding an old skin, making room for something new and beautiful.

Painting and Upgrading: Next came the paint. I chose colors that made me feel happy and inspired. Picture soft pastels with vibrant splashes of color here and there to keep things lively. This was a chance to put a bit of my personality into the space, making it feel truly mine. I upgraded some furniture and added new tables, which are not only practical but also lend an artisanal touch to the studio.

Art on the Walls: One of my favorite parts was hanging new art on the walls. I found pieces that resonated with me, ranging from abstract designs to beautiful botanical prints. Each piece tells a story, adding depth and character to the studio. This wasn't just about making the place look nice—it was about creating an environment that feels like home.

Simplifying My Product Range

Around the end of 2023, I made a big decision. I decided to part ways with my staff and return to my roots: making soap by hand. This choice was not easy, but it felt right. By letting go of my extensive product range, I was able to simplify my work, focusing only on the products that truly resonate with me and my customers.

Back to Basics: By streamlining my product line, I’ve found that I can put more love and attention into each bar of soap. It's incredibly freeing to focus on a smaller range of products that I’m passionate about, rather than stretching myself thin trying to do everything. This shift has allowed me to reconnect with the art of soap making and find joy in the process again.

Embracing Change: Change can be daunting, but it can also be liberating. I feel like I’ve created a space that’s not just a workplace but a sanctuary where creativity can flourish. It’s amazing how simplifying my work has opened up so much more room in my day-to-day life. Now, I can let my days unfold naturally, savoring the process and staying present at the moment.

What’s Next?

Looking ahead to the new year, I'm thrilled about the possibility of hosting soap-making workshops in my newly transformed studio. I can't wait to share this space with others, offering a place where people can come together, learn, and create something beautiful with their own hands. I am also taking lots of photos and videos for an online soap making course that seems to finally be coming together!

I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to make these changes and for the lessons I've learned along the way. It’s been a journey of letting go, rediscovering my passion, and finding balance. I can honestly say it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Thank you for being a part of this journey with me. Your support and encouragement mean the world, and I look forward to sharing more adventures from my studio in the months to come.

Here’s to a new chapter filled with creativity, joy, and a renewed love for the craft!
